MRF Sola Fide means "Faith Alone" in Latin. This filly is typey, athletic and adorable. We are considering the idea of retaining her for our breeding program. She also goes back to Cusop Sheriff two times in the fourth generation and an additional two times in the sixth generation through Sue Lady Cloud. She boasts five Sire Legion Of Merit in generations two, three and four. They are GlanNant Cadence, Cusop Sheriff, GlanNant Tango, Farmore Publicity, and Talybont Quicksilver.

What is a Sire Legion of Merit? A sire must accumulate 2500 points through his progeny. At least five of his progeny must have earned 300 points each in breeding and/or performance.

We can't forget the influential dams. Snow Pony Chickadee has a total of 1189 progeny points. Welmore Grace has a total of 1462 progeny points.GlanNant Ryme has a total of 1379.5 points. Nor can we disregard the success of Glynhafan Redhawk with a total of 4937 progeny points or Findeln Blue Danube with 2192.5 progeny points. Why hasn't Glynhafan Redhawk earned the Sire Legion Of Merit? Because he has not yet had five progeny that have earned 300 points each in breeding and/or performance.

Update: It looks like Faith may be a blue or bay roan. The thought never crossed my mind since her dam and granddam have grey (bay base) on their papers which we now believe to be a miss identification of their base color.. After looking at several progeny of Sue Lady Cloud, we are convinced that Darden Silver Cloud and MRF Sola Fide are either blue or bay roans. Darden Silver Cloud's roan color is masked by the grey modifier gene. It is possible that Faith carries the grey modifier as well. We'll know for certain by the time she is three years old. Since there are no genetic tests for the roan gene, we have to evaluate pedigrees and progeny.

Deciding which fillies to retain is difficult. We just can 't keep them all. She should mature to a large medium.
